In the late 1970s...
As Cambodia emerged from the Khmer Rouge regime, a young boy named Kim Nou often journeyed to Tonle Sap Lake to fish with other villagers from his village. One day, on their way to the lake, a wheel on their cart broke. A family living nearby came to their aid, helping them search for the special wood needed to repair the wheel. Once the cart was fixed, the family extended a warm invitation to share a meal with them, embodying the spirit of Cambodian hospitality. The meal, lovingly prepared, was shared as though everyone at the table was part of the same family. In rural Cambodia, this mutual support and sense of togetherness are deeply valued.
This memory has stayed with Kim Nou, that young boy who is now one of the founders of Maisons Wat Kor. At Maisons Wat Kor, we are committed to preserving and sharing these values at the heart of Cambodian tradition, especially here in Battambang.

Our Purposes
To cultivate local skills and ensure that the economic benefits of our establishment flow directly back to the local community. While Cambodia’s natural beauty is undeniable, it’s concerning to see traditional architecture being replaced by modern styles that resemble Chinese urban apartments. For this reason, we designed Maisons Wat Kor to reflect the elegance and harmony of Cambodian traditions. We want to inspire our guests from around the world to appreciate and help preserve our cultural heritage. Our Khmer culinary experience reflects the spirit of family meals, with dinner served each evening in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
